My gas gauge is broken, so once a week I make a costly predication. It’s a little game I like to play called, "do I have enough gas to make it to the next exit?" Sometimes I win. Sometimes I lose.
I’m not always good with predictions. Though, sometimes the prediction is so obvious that I can just nail it. You know, obvious ones: if you put your hand in fire, step in front of a moving truck or don’t brush your teeth for a week, the predictions write themselves.
In the past I’ve had a difficult time making predictions for our church. I know my batting average with my gas gauge predictions, and so sometimes I shy away from putting myself out there. But, when the prediction are obvious, I am confident and willing to gamble away my prophetic integrity.
Here’s my prediction for Kinetic Church: (And I’m pretty sure it’s an obvious one) Over the next six months, the growth at Kinetic will be mind boggling. We will add over 100 people to our Sunday morning services, connect more people through 20 more small groups and be in desperate need of more worship space by February 2008. We will introduce more people to Jesus and baptize more people in the next six months than we have in the entire history of our church. The wave is here!
Our offerings have been rotten this summer, but the spirit is amazing. Be prepared to share that seat beside you over the next few months. We’re gonna need it. . And that’s not a gas gauge prediction.
