People users. We’d never want to admit it, the the truth is we’ve all done it.
The routine is probably all too familiar. You need to talk, so you find a listener. You need a friend, so you flirt. You need a job, so you make a few calls.
We become the center of our relationships and everything becomes about us.
Even if you’re married, there’s the danger of using your family for your own agenda. Your spouse is suppose to make your feel, happy, loved, respected and safe while your children make you proud.
Again, you upstage God’s agenda and steal the spotlight.
What if God intended for your relationships to advance His agenda and hone your character into the image of God. What if He meant for your friendships encouraged godliness in others?
Is it possible for your pain in the neck boss to increase your patience? For that nagging wife to increase your love. For others to help us mirror Him?
I wonder if relationship is God’s number one tool for making us godly. And that the command to love others was meant to teach us how to transform our character to reflect God’s.
My relationships advance His agenda…not mine.
