We all want to make a difference; to make a dent and leave a mark. The idea of fading into black and vanishing from existence is scary.
Every 18 minutes, 7,200 baby boomers turn 60 and are forced to face their own mortality. Every 18 minutes, the question is asked: has my life really mattered? Did I make a difference?
I believe that the answer to the question of impact in found in the faithfulness of God. Your entire life’s purpose is revealed by your consistency.
Think about faithfulness from the financial perspective: there really are two major styles of investing for the future. There’s, the slow and steady strategy (a $100 every month for life) And there’s the big chuck strategy (thousands of dollars randomly over a lifetime). Financial advisors tell us, unequivocally, that it the person who faithfully contributes small amounts of money to their retirement will most likely be set for life.
I don’t think our lives are much different.
Perhaps it’s a tortoise and hare issue. Or perhaps, if we begin to take on God’s faithfulness, our impact would exponentially increase.
You see, whenever we mirror on the faithful nature of God, we exponentially increase our ability to make a huge impact in the world around us. Small acts of intentional service, over time, will yield a huge and lasting impact.
