A Taste to Savor

The Church / May 14, 2007

I love steak. I love to enjoy every tender piece of meat as it melts in my mouth. For me, eating steak is not a job to complete, it is a experience to savor.

Last Sunday afternoon, I tasted something amazing that I want to savor for a long time. It happened during the Kinetic Church Leaders meeting of all places. Honestly, I’m not really even sure what triggered it, but something unknown forced me to experience the sweet taste of our church’s present reality and of what God is doing through us. We are on the cutting edge of something huge.

For so long, I have become weary of dreaming big dreams for Kinetic. Wishing for small groups with a burden for the lonely and broken of our church and their communities. Hoping for Kinetic regulars who will care for every brave guest that risks trying our church for the first time. Dreaming of a place of belonging for every God-seeker in Charlotte.

Something happened during that meeting; I began to realize that Kinetic Church is becoming the church of my dreams. The church that really does care! The church that is actually interested in making disciples, a church of God-chasers! It was like savoring a huge juicy piece of steak. I loved it!

My temptation was to enjoy the taste for a second, then move on to bigger and better things. I choose to savor.

Far too often, I become so busy angling for the future that I neglect to savor the present. This blog will become the table where I sit to savor the sweet and bitter journey of Kinetic Church…medium rare.

Bon appétit!
