A New Group

The Church / May 29, 2007

Here’s an unbelievable email that I received from an anonymous person who just connected with a new Kinetic Small Group:

Why is my small group so great?

  1. It’s genuine. I felt connected from the first night when I went…and I knew no one…
  2. Heart-level conversations. Our small group discussions are amazing. I’ve talked more in the 5 or 6 weeks I’ve been in that group than in the whole year or more I was in the other small group (that’s still not a whole lot quantitatively, but qualitatively, it’s a big step for me). And I didn’t have to be "called on" to talk, I just do it.
  3. This group challenges me. (I haven’t told them that yet.) I feel God working in me to step up to something big soon. Not sure what it is, yet, but I haven’t felt like this for a long time.

This group feels like a good group of friends coming out of a good small group instead of trying to get a small group out of a good group of friends, if that makes sense, which is what I felt like my other small group was. I think the best thing about this small group is that I don’t even question if they will be there for me and I’ve only really met most of the members when I first started a few weeks ago. Sadly, the other group I was in, I always questioned whether I could count on them or whether I should share my struggles with them and we had been together for a year. I knew I could count on a few of them, but with this new group, it’s not even conceivable that I couldn’t count on them.

What are some of the best things about your small group? .
