A New Challenge

The Church / January 18, 2008

Self-supporting!

I hope that you feel the gravity of that statement. Historically, few church plants reach this point. Yet, Kinetic Church has experienced something that is statistically improbable. What an accomplishment!

Fortunately, the challenges for Kinetic have only just begun. We are a church on mission, and that mission demands that we be willing and ready to confront every challenge that threatens what God has call us to become.

Let me explain:

This month begins a new fiscal season for us. The training wheels are off, the outside support has ended and the financial bar has been raised. 2008 will challenge us financially.

So, about a month ago, Kinetic’s finance team met to assess our situation. As a result, they determined that our 2008 weekly ministry requirement needed be set at $7,000 per week. This amount will allow Kinetic to maintain her 2007 ministry standard without the monthly subsidies of past outside supporters.

Fortunately, our God is much bigger than this challenge.

Additionally, we are going to face challenges making disciples.

Over the past 5 months, over 422 first time guests have visited Kinetic. (272 who signed Kinetic’s weekly attendance book and over 150 projected visitors who never signed in) We are a well-trafficked church.

Every week we have the opportunity to make new disciples right here in the walls of our own church. People are coming in droves. Every guest wanting to connect, most seeking God. Kinetic must accept the challenge to become the church who cares, connects and welcomes. God is providing seekers to our church every Sunday.

We must do a better job welcoming outsiders into our body.

The challenges have only begun and yet the mission demands that we push through every obstacle.

Self-supporting…what a challenge.
