    Does the Election Really Matter?

This week I began a blogging competition. I WANT TO WIN THIS! Please click here and vote for me! (only one vote per computer, so no American Idol style voting!)

Anyway, here is my first post: (they gave us the topic)

DOES THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION REALLY MATTER?

I enjoy our political process. It’s like Ultimate Fighting for the debate club. There’s nothing more exciting than watching candidates devour one another in a pulverizing verbal cage match.  It reminds me of those nostalgic church-board meeting days when the elders would swear at each other.

Yet, I know that not every person is stirred by the prospect of watching bloodthirsty candidates duke it out.  Many prefer Dancing with the Stars to an electoral brawl. (Don’t ask me why.)

So, is it possible to separate the political men from the boys; the fighters from the dancers?

    Let me attempt to try.

If you’re a Saturday Night Live comic: THE ELECTION MATTERS!
But, if you live in your mom’s basement and trade Magic Cards: IT DOESN’T

If you’re sexist or fly a rebel flag: IT MATTERS
But, if you are New York’s former governor: IT DOESN’T

If you’re Oprah Winfrey: IT MATTERS
But, if you’re Al Gore: IT DOESN’T

If you are an illegal Mexican working in the US: IT MATTERS
But, if your job is being outsourced to Mexico: IT DOESN’T

If you’re a trained circus monkey and political commentator: IT MATTERS
But if you’re the typical American: IT DOESN’T

looks like you’re ahead in the polls for people who actually composed their own thoughts on the question.

      Wow!
Does the presidential election really matter? That my friends seems to me like a bit of a slanted question. Of course not,why would I care? Do I have pay attention long enough to figure out who would make the best leader of the free world. As Americans we are one of the few people on this earth that can vote for a person who can affect our lives and many others around the world.

Whether or not you lIke high taxes or not……..IT MATTERS

Whether or not you are pro- death or Pro life……..IT MATTERS

Whether or not you want to control your own heath care or give it up to the government to take of you……..IT MATTERS

Whether or not you would like to defeat Islamo-Facism or you would’nt mind living in fear of Terrorists taking down your plane or blowing up your bus………IT MATTERS

Since we do live in a relatively free society and can still share the good news of Jesus it would behoove us to pay attention long enough to vote for some who will keep it that way

      In response to blog response:

Does it really matter who wins the election? In some things yes, in some no:

Whether or not you like high taxes or not ….. IT DOESN’T (no matter the party, the candidates all raise and lower taxes with support of congress in order to meet their agenda, you can check their records, they all do it)

Whether or not you are Pro-Choice or Pro-Life ….. IT DOESN’T (presidential candidates have little to do with this issue, most of this issue is decided in congress and the Supreme Court- of which the judges are nominated and confirmed appointees by congress and which though may be close to the Presidential agenda when they enter, once appointed, are not required to stick to that agenda, and many don’t)

Whether or not you want to control your own health care or give it up to the government to take care of you …. IT DOESN’T (have you really looked at the cost of healthcare for a middle-class American family? It’s a fortune now, if it becomes something that the government provides, it’ll cost a fortune too, and maybe if that happens there wouldn’t be so many left behind. RENT SICKO)

Whether or not you would like to defeat Islamic-Extremists or you wouldn’t mind living in fear of Terrorists taking down your plane or blowing up your bus ….. IT DOESN’T (Let’s be REAL here, whether you have a pro-Iraq war or an anti-Iraq war candidate, either way, we’re at the same risk. Our risk to terrorist threat is not diminished because there is a certain political party in office. There are terrorists everywhere who would just love to blow up a plane or bus, or maybe come up with some new-fangled idea for terrorism. Either way, the President doesn’t enable it, there are mutlitple agencies we pay billions of dollars for whose job it is to protect us. Sometimes they fail and it costs a lot, but not as much as any one war)

Whether or not you’d like to see world leaders working together to solve the world’s problems …. IT MATTERS

If you work at McDonald’s …. IT MATTERS
If you work at IBM …. IT MATTERS

Whether or not you’d like to exercise your right to vote … IT MATTERS

If you’re an average American …. IT MATTERS

Since we do live in a free society and can still freely share the good news of Jesus, it would behoove us to do so and vote according to each person’s own moral, ethical, and societal obligations. None of the candidates can keep our country free. Only we can.
